This weekend we went camping at Kruistementvlei (http://kruistementvlei.webs.com/) and I can honestly say its one of the best campsites I’ve been to. If you are 10 or more people (I beleive) you have the whole site to yourself (although you can fit a whole lot more people in there) and at R50 per person per night its an absolute steal.
We were invited to join the Isuzu Offroad club near Vaaitjie at “Ou Trekpad” (http://www.outrekpad.com). It’s close to Melkbos on a turnoff between the N7 and the West Coast Road. Follow the Vaaitjie turn off for about 4km and on your left you will see the 4×4 sign. Drive slow or you can miss it.
So on Sunday 9 October 2011 (After Bryce Lawrence beat the Springboks) we left for a quick dash through Namibia.
The trip actually came up when my sister & her Boyfriend received a birthday gift that included accommodation in Swakopmund. I thought, “Why not drive up and meet them at the airport in Walvisbay?”, and SWAMBO actually agreed!
So we put a quick trip together.
Destination: Abiqua Campsite
Distance: 676 km all on TAR
The route follows the N7 from Cape Town to the border.
To get to Abiqua turn left onto the C13 just after the border, left again after 500m and follow the sign.
