Swartriet is a family-owned farm on the beach front situated about 1km from Jacobs Bay on the West Coast. Â
This year I decided to host my 40th birthday at Swartriet. There are 30 chalets available ranging from 2 to 4 bedrooms. The houses are very neat and each house also provides a small kitchen including a 2 plate stove, fridge, microwave oven, cutlery and build-in cupboards. A decent outside braai facility is available (under roof). Linen can be supplied on request.
The prices are reasonable and range from R450 – R800 per night for a 2 bedroom unit (sleeps 6) to R900 – R1200 per night for a 4 bedroom unit (sleeps 10). There is a small shop open during office hours which will stock wood, cool drinks etc. (and ice in the summer). The next ‘bigger’ shop is around the corner in Jacobs Bay.
If you stay at Swartriet, make sure that you visit Weskusplek – Jacobs Bay and have some lunch while overlooking the idyllic little West Coast town of Jacobs Bay.
But, if you take into consideration the hospitality, the short distance from Cape Town, the tranquility of the farm setup and fresh smell of sea that greets you every morning, the best part must be the extraordinary sunsets. Behold:
